I AM HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE… In more ways than one! I knew this trip was going to be amazing, but I didn’t know just how beautiful this country was going to be. It’s beauty grows with each windy turn and breathtaking waterfall. Words really can’t describe this trip, but I’m going to try. Here’s a day by day of what we did and what I would and wouldn’t recommend.
Right after we got engaged in front of Skogafoss Waterfall
Day 1- Arrive in Rekyjavik
We flew on WOW airlines on an overnight flight from LAX to Keflavik airport. We rented 2 SUVs to ride around in
The weather upon arrival was not ideal.. hats and beanies came out pretty quickly.

Since we had 8 people, we rented 2 Kia Sorentos from Blue Rental and headed towards Reykjavik. We really enjoyed the Sorentos, they were big enough for all out luggage and spacious inside as well. The navigation systems worked really well, too.

Upon arrival in Reykjavic we checking into out first Air BNB/Hostel. The house was huge, 3 stories and there were several other guests staying at this house that night as well.
After checking in, we walked to dinner and stopped at a church along the way.

Dinner at Chuck Norris Grill….We were very disappointed with this place, it was underwhelming. Knowing what we know now about Icelandic food, we would definitely recommend checking out an other places.

Drinks at Big Lebowski Bar

Night 1, where we realized how much a beer or cocktail costs…yikes! After this, we went back to the house and drank out own booze. I would HIGHLY recommend buying your own alcohol at Duty Free in the airport and at any liquor store when you find one. Although still expensive at the liquor store, drinks out at night at way too expensive, especially when traveling around the entire island.
DAY 2
Leave Reykjavic towards the Geysir. The water was insanely blue and clear. We did get to see the Geysir erupt a few times! This was a great stop, I would definitely recommend this on the trip, especially since it’s free and it’s on the side of the road.

From the Geysir we drove to Gulfoss waterfall, about a 10 minute drive.

I loved this waterfall, very big and powerful. It was rainy and windy when we walked down to it. There was a nice gift shop here as well.
